Talpa reworks C4 format for the Netherlands

Dutch version of The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes to be filmed next year.

 

John de Mol’s Talpa TV network has ordered a local version of Channel 4 format The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes for Dutch broadcaster SBS6.

 

Dutch indie Concept Street will enter production early next year on its version of the series, in which a group of people living with dementia are tasked with helping run a restaurant.

 

Distributor Red Arrow Studios International brokered the deal, along with licensing the format in Belgium to producer Roses Are Blue.

 

In the UK, the series was produced by Motion Content Group and Red Arrows-backed indie CPL Productions, which also makes C4 constructed factual stalwarts like Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds and Married at First Sight.

 

Fronted by chef Josh Eggleton, it featured a group of dementia sufferers that took the reins over a five-week period, as the restaurant was visited by a range of celebrity diners and members of the public.

 

The four-parter concluded in the Wednesday 9pm slot earlier this month and has so far consolidated to an average of 830,000 (3.7%) viewers.

 

Red Arrow Studios International president Bo Stehmeier said: “This timely show taps into wider national conversations surrounding how we think of people living with dementia.

 

“As we see the demand for kinder, socially responsible and uplifting content continue to rise, we’re delighted to be building its presence.”
