International Women's Day 2020

International Women's Day 2020

This year the campaign theme for International Women's Day is #EachforEqual

An equal world is an enabled world.

This comes from the notion of 'Collective Individualism'. We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The first International Women's Day occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.

To take part in this years celebrations Motion employees struck the #EachforEqual pose and spread it across social! We also asked several of our employees to tell us what #EachforEqual and International Women's Day meant to them:

#EachforEqual means all people are treated with the same respect regardless of anything. Each individual is unique and we should acknowledge, embrace and accept our differences as they all exist - there should be no conscious or unconscious bias or discrimination and we should all feel empowered!”

Nashreen Patel, Motion UK Financial Controller

#EachforEqual is not just about action, it’s a state of mind, a recognition that not only should every voice be heard but that listened to, each has the value to transform. International Women’s Day for me is about celebrating what for too long has gone unnoticed. The brilliance, contribution and potential of half the population.”

Tony Moulsdale, Motion Global Director of Programming

For me #EachforEqual means fighting bias, challenging stereotypes and celebrating all genders, together. International Women’s Day is about looking back at the women in history who fought for the rights we have now and looking into the future to work towards a fully equal society free from discrimination. Equality must be sought on a global scale.

Phoebe Stafford, Motion Global Marketing Assistant

"#EachforEqual is a powerful expression of a basic and fundamental human right …that everyone deserves to be treated equally…irrespective of gender, race, religion or sexuality. The world has been run as a patriarchy for far too long now …and men don’t seem to have been that good at it!"

Ben Hall, Motion Global Head of Formats

"For me #EachforEqual means creating an equal platform for women celebrating all genders together, broadening perceptions and celebrating achievements. International Women’s Day to me signifies respect, equality, appreciation and kindness. Women empowering each other."

Julie Jack, Motion Global Marketing and Communications Manager

"For me #EachforEqual means working together in collaboration where everybody is treated equally and with respect, regardless of their race, religion, gender or sexuality.  International Women’s Day is a great way of announcing to the world how important equality is and reminding people that unfortunately there is still a lot of work to be done in many areas of life to tackle bias and challenge stereotypes."

Chris Baldwin, Motion Global Finance Director

We can all choose to be #EachforEqual

Happy International Women's Day from Motion!
