Channel 5 signs up Susan Calman
15th May 2018
Scottish comedian and Strictly star Susan Calman is to front a Channel 5 travelogue about her homeland.
Secret Scotland With Susan Calman will be produced by Banijay Group’s IWC and WPP’s Motion Content Group.
Calman will uncover the history and untold tales of some of Scotland’s most iconic destinations from Loch Ness, Edinburgh Castle, Rosslyn Chapel and Skara Brae.
Glasgow-born Calman will be joined by experts across a range of Scotland’s traditions from highland dancing in a medieval castle to golf at St. Andrews.
The 5x60 series was commissioned by C5 factual commissioning editor Guy Davies and will be executive produced by IWC’s Gerard Costello and Motion Content Group’s Melanie Darlaston.
Davies welcomed Calman to C5, saying there is “no one better” to guide viewers through Scotland’s iconic locations.
Costello added: “This promises to be a warm and fun series and with Susan’s genuine and infectious enthusiasm for her subject, there is no better way to uncover the secrets behind some of the great icons of Scotland.”
The commission comes on the heels of IWC’s recently-aired Channel 4 series Britain’s Most Historic Towns with Alice Roberts.
IWC and Motion Content Group have previously teamed up on Wild Things for Sky1 and Fake! The Great Masterpiece Challenge for Sky Arts.
