Channel 5 has recommissioned two train-based documentary series from Rumpus Media and Motion Content Group.

In the second outing for Around the World by Train with Tony Robinson (6 x 60-minutes), the Blackadder actor will continue to make his way across the world via locomotive. This time, he visits the likes of South America, North America and southern Europe, experiencing local customs and immersing himself in its history.

Commissioning editor Denise Seneviratne promised a “vibrant and colourful series” replete with “unexpected stories”.

The series will be executive produced by Rumpus Media’s Fintan Maguire and Chris Parkin, and Martin Oxley of Motion Content Group.

Meanwhile, presenter Rob Bell will be exploring the nation’s old railway lines and exploring hidden landscapes in a second run of Britain’s Lost Railway (6 x 60-minutes).

The series will be also be exec-produced by Maguire and with the addition of Owen Rudd, also from Rumpus Media, and Motion Content Group’s Melanie Darlaston.

TCB Rights will be the international distributor for the show’s second series.

Maguire, Rumpus’ head of factual, called both the programmes “equally warm and adventurous”, adding that it was a “joy to be working on both.”
