The fixed rig reality format where anyone can be anyone to try and become the most popular. Fifteen players are each given their own apartment - all in the same block, however they’re not allowed to meet each other face-to-face. Instead they communicate with each other solely through their profiles on a specially-designed social media platform called ‘The Circle’, giving them the ability to portray themselves in any way they choose. Between interactions players must rate one another based on who they prefer. The highest rated players become ‘influencers’, gaining power to choose who will be ‘blocked’ and eliminated from the game.
Before the UK’s original series had even been re-commissioned, Netflix had commissioned local versions of The Circle in Brazil, France and the US.
